Gençlerbirliği are Ankara’s oldest major club, founded in 1923, the year the Republic was proclaimed in the city. The Wind of Ankara won the Turkish Cup in 1987 and 2001 and are remembered for the entertaining sides of the early 2000s that produced a generation of Turkish internationals.
After relegation in 2021 they returned to the Süper Lig in 2025 and play at the Eryaman Stadium. Red and black.
