The Eredivisie is the top division of Dutch football, founded in 1956 when the Netherlands adopted professionalism. Eighteen clubs play 34 rounds between August and May. The bottom two are relegated directly to the Eerste Divisie and the 16th-placed club enters a promotion/relegation play-off with the best second-tier sides.

Ajax, with the most titles, PSV and Feyenoord have shared almost every championship since the 1960s — AZ Alkmaar and FC Twente are the only other clubs to have won it this century. The league is famous above all for development: the academies of Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord have produced generations of players and coaches who went on to shape football across Europe.

The champion goes straight into the Champions League league phase and the runner-up into qualifying; the Europa and Conference League places are decided by the table, the KNVB Cup and end-of-season play-offs. Golalarm covers every Eredivisie match with live scores, lineups, statistics and player ratings.
