The Bundesliga has been Germany’s top division since 1963. It is the smallest of Europe’s big leagues, with 18 clubs playing 34 matchdays from August to May, and the one with the highest average attendance in the world — standing terraces, affordable tickets and the 50+1 rule, which keeps a majority of voting rights with club members, are part of its character.
Bayern Munich are the record champions with more than thirty titles and won eleven in a row between 2013 and 2023, a run ended by Bayer Leverkusen’s unbeaten 2023–24 season. Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Werder Bremen, Hamburg and Stuttgart are the other clubs with multiple titles since the league began.
The top four qualify for the Champions League; the bottom two are relegated and the 16th-placed club meets the third-placed 2. Bundesliga side in a two-legged play-off. Golalarm follows every match with live scores, lineups, statistics and player ratings, and the standings tab tracks the Meisterschale race.
