The Premier League is the top tier of English football and the most-watched domestic league in the world. It was formed in 1992, when the First Division clubs broke away from the Football League to negotiate their own television deal, and it has been played by 20 clubs since 1995. Each team plays the other nineteen home and away, 38 matches in a season that runs from August to May.

Three points for a win, one for a draw: the top four places (and in some seasons a fifth, awarded on UEFA’s coefficient ranking) qualify for the Champions League, with further European places decided by the table and the domestic cups. The bottom three are relegated to the Championship, replaced by its two automatically promoted clubs and the winner of the play-offs.

Manchester United hold the record with 13 Premier League titles, while Manchester City’s four in a row from 2021 to 2024 is the longest winning run of the era. Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City complete the list of champions. On Golalarm every Premier League match carries live scores, lineups, statistics and player ratings as they happen, and the standings update with the final whistle.
